A safari deep off the coast of Mombasa

Swimming suspended in the blue midst of the ocean in front of Mombasa, Kenya, is the equivalent of  experiencing a very unique African safari:  no roaring lions or stampeding wildebeests.  Instead there are whale sharks, giant sea turtles and the white blue spotted rays swimming in the shade of the coral outcrops.

The oceanic coast of this country is typically a tidal environment, and tides have to be reckoned with.  However waiting for the ocean's own rhythm offers ample rewards, in the form of outstanding underwater views. The hard coral reefs are home to schools of multicolor fish and innumerable kinds of crustaceans.

Looking closely, it is easy to spot a gaudy nudibranch grazing over a giant mushroom coral umbrella, jutting out of the bottom. Moving out from the reef, you may be greeted by  large pelagics, manta rays, sharks or pods of dolphins. Fishing is prohibited in the Watamu National Marine Park and therefore marine life is even more abundant. Famed spots such as the Mida Wreck and Barracuda Reef are certainly worth several dives.

Diving in this ever changing environment requires reliable top-of-the-line scuba diving equipment that will support and accompany you in all dive situations. SCUBAPRO and UWATEC product lines have everything you need, from comfortable wetsuits to high-tech dive computers, easy-to-use buoyancy compensators and high-flow regulators.  Plus plenty of accessories to complement your diving experience.
