Flying through the kandus of Ari

The Maldives are one of the best places in the world for drift diving. The strong currents, created by oceanic passes, provide effortless propulsion along the reefs. The secret lies in the monsoon activity, a sort of giant climatic engine that creates the endless currents that ceaselessly sweep the atolls of this island nation.

When you are drift diving, you are essentially hitching a ride on the currents.  It doesn't matter whether you ride through a "kandu" (a pass created between two atoll reefs) or go around a "thila" (a shoal of fish inside the atoll),  you will effortlessly glide along the reef wall, watching in awe all of the incredible marine life that passes. You don't need to worry that you will get seperated from your dive boat, since at the end of the dive a float will be sent to the surface to signal the boat to come and recover the group.

In this type of diving, as in all diving situations, good buoyancy control is paramount. It is what allows you to fly through the water with nothing on your mind but the myriads of fascinating life forms that inhabit the reef nooks and crannies. SCUBAPRO offers three different types of BC:  the comfort of a stabilizing Jacket, the flexibility of a front-adjustable jacket or the technical features and freedom of a back flotation jacket.

SCUBAPRO buoyancy compensators have all the features you may need for safety and comfort, from integrated weight systems to multiple air-dump configurations and advanced inflators.   Our Super Cinch tank band is our proprietary stainless- steel cam action buckle system that is quick and easy to adjust and securely grips the tank for optimal safety.
